Project Description
The project plans to conduct infrastructure engineering and urban planning to prepare feasibility studies, urban design, detailed engineering design, environmental and social instruments (ESIA), bidding documents and operation manuals for a pipeline of investments in 3 Local Government Authorities (LGA). This assignment is one of three consultancies to design a second phase of investments under the proposed World Bank-financed Tanzania Cities Transforming Infrastructure and Competitiveness Project (TACTIC), implemented through the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Development (PO-RALG). The assignment is intended to be an international good practice example of urban development that enhances economic productivity and job growth, inclusiveness, and builds resilience to hazards.
This consultancy scope of work will cover the following 3 LGAs and preliminary sub-projects;
Kibaha
- Construction of Milk Processing Factory to be built at Zegereni Area: The processing industry is aimed in adding the value of milk products from low-income farmers. It is located on Plot No. 23/2 with an area of 24,488 m2
- Upgrading of Kwa Mfipa- Msangani and Kwa Mathias-Mikongeni Roads: The proposed roads (approx. 13km) shall open the access within Kwa Mfipa, Msangani, Kwa Mathias and Mikongeni communities.
- Construction of Medium General-Purpose Workshop at Zegereni Area: The Workshop targets in stimulating the
youth entrepreneur’s skills. It is located on Plot No. 23/1 with an area of 40,217m2
- Recreational Area to be built at Mkoani Area in Kibaha Town: The recreational park shall target the refreshments and sports requirements to various groups. It is located on Plot No. 596 with an area of 8,872 m2
Lindi
- Construction of Bus Stand at Mitwero: The proposed Bus stand shall accommodate the increased passengers/population. It is located on Plot No. 1 with an area of 30,600 m2
- Construction of Central Market at Matope Ward: The Central market shall be a hub for agricultural products from various areas to the CBD consumers. It is located on Plot No. 227 with an area of 5,154 m2
- Upgrading of CBD Roads: The proposed roads (approx. 5 km) shall increase connectivity and ease movement
within the CBD area.
Mtwara Mikindani
- Construction of Skoya Small Scale Industry and General Workshop at Vigaeni Area: The Workshops targets in stimulating the youth entrepreneur’s skills. It is located on Plot No. 1,2&3 with an area of 16,800 m2
- Construction of Chipuputa Main Bus Stand and Associated Roads: The proposed Bus stand with
- associated roads (approx. 2 km), is necessary in avoiding random and unsafe parking in unplanned areas also, to accommodate the increased passengers/population. It is located on Plot No. 350 with an area of 77,100 m2
- Upgrading of CBD Roads and Drainage System at Chuno: The proposed roads (approx. 4 km) shall increase connectivity and ease movement within the CBD area
Improving solid waste services: Solid waste collection and environmental cleaning service improvement investments including: (i) expanding or improving services in underserved areas; (ii) introducing specialized services; (iii) formalizing recycling services; (iv) reinvestment or upgrading previous investments (landfill and collection points); (v) communications and stakeholder engagement program.
